Join Ron and Josey on the Snow Geese Drive. We will meet at the Sheetz beside the Lancaster Airport, 3205 Lititz Pike at 11am. We will depart at 11:30 to explore the Middle Creek Wildlife area and conclude with a 2:00 luncheon at the “Historic” 1746 Franklin House Tavern in Shaufferstown.
We will travel the backroads of Lancaster/Lebanon counties. We will cross the
Zook’s Mill covered bridge on our way to our first stop at the Middle Creek Wildlife visitors center at mile 20.0. It has modern restrooms and exhibits to explore along with maps and other info for the taking. Then another 1.2 miles up the road to the Willow Point observation area for the best view of snow geese. It is an easy 10 minute walk on a paved pathway to the observation point from their parking lot. Those who don’t want to make the walk can remain longer at the visitors center. We then proceed up the road another 0.2 miles to the Middle Creek auto tour road which will take us out of the park and onward to the tavern in about 9 miles on some more back roads.
Please let me know by February 27 at henseagull69@gmail.com if you will be joining us so I can get a headcount to the tavern. Remember to bring your cameras, binoculars and an extra coat if you’re walking to the Willow Point observation area.
This is a fair weather trip. Snow or rain will cause it to be rescheduled. Here is a
