Greetings Fellow PACErs!

Let’s hope for a non-raining day on Saturday, 10 Oct 2026.

If we get the weather to cooperate, then I will be leading a scenic tour up in coal country.

Starting at 11 AM, we shall travel from the Dutch Kitchen Restaurant, 433 S Lehigh Ave, Frackville, PA 17931

(If you want to join me for a late breakfast – I will be there at 10 AM), up to Brandonville, where we will pick up the roads following the Catawissa Creek.

Enjoying the beautiful fall views along the creek, overlooking the valleys and hills along the way, and passing by scenic farms we shall make our way to the

100 year old, family owned, Catawissa Bottling Company, 450 Fisher Ave, Catawissa, PA 17820, where we can get locally made and bottled sodas, including my favorite Moxie!

(Note – no public restrooms).

Then it is a quick ride to Sheetz just past Knoebels for a stretch and bathroom break. (About 1 ½ hours into the ride).

Then, off to Shamokin where we will pick up PA Rt 125 which we will follow south over many ridges, through scenic valleys and past old coal fields on our way to a lunch

in Pine Grove, at Buddy’s Log Cabin Family Restaurant, 97 Tremont Rd, Pine Grove, PA 17963.

Overcast weather will not stop us, but continuous rain will.

Please contact MattL at bvrkilmatt@verizon.net if you would like to go on this scenic tour.
