Who is up for another Lancaster County ice cream run – with a twist!

Our Cows to Cone adventure, celebrates the farms of Lancaster County that use what their cows produce to make us all happy Miata drivers – ice cream!

We will be visiting two of Lancaster County’s family-owned farms.  Both farm-stores also sell local cheeses, meats, snacks, and other products.  (I love the Pequea Valley Farm yogurts you can get at our first stop.)  Along the way we will be stopping for a delicious lunch at Hometown Kitchen, halfway between Quarryville and Atglen.  Breads used in the restaurant are baked in-house and are so dang tasty!  Prices are reasonable (well – considering what the going rates are today!) portions are very generous, taste and quality are A#1.

And get this – the drive goes on a road that world-famous Southern Lancaster Road-Master Mike Cory had never been on before he went on a pre-run with me!

Since we will need to make a lunch reservation, please contact MattL at bvrlilmatt@verizon.net to let me know you will be attending.

 Additional info attached below

So, meet me on Saturday, 18 April, at 10 AM at the Columbia Sheetz, 4010 Columbia Ave, Columbia, PA 17512, for a scenic and tasty cruise about Southern Lancaster County.  Your Miata and your tummy will thank you!

Looking out of a window, all I see is white ice, and all I can think about is ice cream!  Fresh, local, tasty ice cream!

Twists – I like my ice cream with a twist or thirty!

Besides the twisty roads we will explore on Saturday, 18 April 2026, the other twist on the ride is that lunch will be 6 miles before our last farm visit.

We will be visiting Hometown Kitchen, https://eatathometown.com , for a tasty Saturday lunch.

If we can get 20 folks to commit their time and dollars to going on the drive, then we can get a family style meal for $23 (tax and tip not included)  – from the restauarant’s website :

“Family Style Dinner Includes Homemade Dinner Rolls, Butter, Homemade Strawberry Jelly, Choice of One Salad, Two Meats, Three Vegetables, Two Desserts Served With Vanilla Ice Cream, and Beverages”

Or something similar……

This option would give us a set price, a set menu, and quick service.

Otherwise, we would order off the menu, which could slow us down quite a bit, but may be a bit cheaper for some folks and we could each customize the meal.

I need to let the restaurant know of our reservation details by the beginning of the last week of March.

So, let me know:

  • If you are going on the ride
  • Eat family style or do you want to order from the menu?

This information will really help us have an enjoyable adventure.

We will post the results family style versus off the menu at the beginning of April.

Thanks,

MattL
