A felicitous greeting to one and all of my fellow PACErs!
Recently, my calendar gave me a good talking to. It seems that I have not scheduled any PACE events,
well – ok – except for drives to Longacres Modern Dairy from the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles – and the other days are starting to get jealous of Tuesday – not having to run out and about.
So, let’s do a Tuesday run!
Where to go – I know…

Root’s County Market & Auction is only open on Tuesdays. Ugh – I hate starting rides in that area…So where to start? How about we go west to find a starting point!
From the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, we will paddle upstream to that infamous island. At the upstream tip of the island, we shall head into northern Lancaster County on our way to Mt Gretna, where we will head southerly-ish (you know how Pennsylvania roads do not like going straight too long) towards our market destination. Country lanes, world-class industrial complexes, covered bridges, deep quarries, picturesque farms, acres of automobiles, grazing bovines, and the ever-present gift from horsepower – Lancaster Road Apples, will all pass by as we meander about Lancaster and Lebanon
counties.
The ride begins at 10 AM, 28 April.
The safety meeting will be followed by departure from the

Columbia Crossing River Trails Center

41 Walnut St, Columbia

PA 17512 at 10:15 AM.
Our approximately 55-mile ride takes about 2 hours, so we should hit

Root’s Country Market & Auction, 705 Graystone Rd, Manheim, PA 17545, at the height of lunch rush! Bring a cooler for any fresh baked goods, produce, dairy or meat treats that you find as you stroll through the market.

RSVP MattL at bvrkilmatt@verizon.net if you are interested in joining our leisurely River to Roots Ride on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026.
